The roots of the 1960s Music Tree feature the places, moments and movements that defined the era and shaped its music. On the left we see a vintage automobile, one that a teenager of the sixties could’ve taken to the drive-in movie theater or Lookout Lane. Beside that is a couple of surfboards, a nod to the Beach Boys and the surf rock sound they pioneered. To the right of those are college students picketing in front of the U.S. Capitol building, in protest of the Vietnam War. On the other side of the tree’s trunk there is the iconic Wurlitzer jukebox, spinning records from Bob Dylan, James Brown and many others. Also present is Westminster Abbey and Big Ben clock tower, signaling the enormous influence Great Britain had on rock music during this time period. And no band was a bigger influence than The Beatles, who are honored with a picture of their Yellow Submarine.

Our unique and affordable framing option uses an acrylic called Liquitex to protect the prints. Perhaps the nicest part of Liquitex framing is the absence of glare that plagues glass-covered art. Additionally, it protects the prints from dust and fading. The prints are also laminated to protect from UV discoloration and then placed in a 2-inch black frame.

The roots of the Sixties feature sketches of major world events that were the back drop to this incredible era of music: Motown, the Vietnam War, protests and of course the beloved Woodstock concert that closed this decade and sparked the Seventies. A vintage automobile lines the landscape.
